We are planning to hike Mt. Langley via the new army pass, next weekend (July 28-30). Its a target hike for Asha for Education’s Climbing program.
Following heading are some of the planning items which I will update over next few days, to assist with our trip.
Before Going
- Talk to the ranger station at Mt. Langley Forest Service Department
- Check weather forecast at Mt. Langley Weather Forecast
Route
Will possibly choose new Army pass (~ 23 miles) since the snow on it will be likely less than old Army pass (~19 miles). This will add some additional mileage to the trip. We will camp at the Long Lake – Base of New Army pass. The hike to base is mostly easy and flat.
- Day 1 we hike about 9 miles with elevation gain of about 1000ft
- Day 2 we hike 17 miles & elevation gain of about 4900ft
We start from Cottonwood Lakes Walk In Campground, Google Maps
Packing List
- Repel 100
- Headlights
- Packout bag
- Nalgene
- Microspikes
Tips
- Read AllTrails Trip reports
- Download the GPX file on to the GPS device, that way you can check ocassionally to see if you are on track. If you don’t have GPS the GAIA GPS app is the best app.
