Draft for discussion · July 2026
Backing aspiring entrepreneurs. Bridging the Bay Area.
Vitraag (vītarāga) — clarity without attachment. Founders keep control; we don’t cling.
Angel capital · Venture studio · AI + Security Residency

Microsoft, Shape Security, United Healthcare, Jasper Health. Startup consulting: pentests, SOC 2, HIPAA, cloud architecture.
College cybersecurity & digital forensics faculty (Bay Area). Speaker at BSides and RSA Conference.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area. VESIT (Mumbai) alum. Roots in Nashik. Currently mentoring interns from India.
$500K personal commitment. 7+ year horizon. Impact-first, returns-aware.
Indian foundation models are open-source (Apache 2.0), with $1B+ IndiaAI Mission behind compute. The application & security layers are wide open.
Angel tax abolished; the FDI automatic route makes direct US checks into Indian startups straightforward.
The Nashik–Pune corridor has engineering talent and low burn — and almost zero early capital or mentorship.
DPDP Act, RBI AI mandates, CERT-In: regulation is creating demand Indian startups aren't yet serving with products.
Flagship
India's AI security market is consulting, not products. We back or incubate product companies: LLM red-teaming, guardrails, compliance tooling — for BFSI, government, and the shop floor (OT/ICS security for MIDC-belt manufacturers).
Impact
Vernacular AI in healthcare, agri, MSME — only with a proprietary dataset or a rural distribution moat. Never thin wrappers.
Returns
Picks-and-shovels for the neocloud buildout: GPU orchestration, inference cost, AI ops. Watchlist: fabless edge-AI silicon, hardware security, vision-AI factory inspection & MSME manufacturing SaaS.
Every check ships with the US-Ready Package: SOC 2 / HIPAA / DPDP roadmap · first 3 US customer intros · enterprise sales coaching · Series A intros.
Secure vernacular derm-AI for tier-2 Maharashtra, built in the open
State dermatology leadership: validation + pilot sites
DPDP / HIPAA-grade build, AI hardening — our craft
Open Indian models, Marathi-first
Bay Area GTM and a Series A bridge
The signature program
Most people build accelerators. We build talent: 8–15 exceptional Maharashtra engineers, an intensive residency in production-grade AI.
Some residents found companies — fed straight into our studio and first checks. Others become the technical leaders the ecosystem needs. Both outcomes win.
~$30–40K per cohort · compute sponsored by neocloud & model partners · the alumni network is the long-term moat
We don't ask anyone to quit and gamble. Credentials first, stipends next, salary + equity when they're ready.
Rung 1
Academic-credit internship + certificate + Bay Area mentorship
Rung 2
Kumbh Residency stipend — build, learn, ship in cohort
Rung 3
₹12–15L + 1–3% equity at a studio or portfolio company
Rung 4
Studio-backed: we co-build, fund, and open the US market
Salary + title = family legitimacy in tier-2 India. Every rung from Resident up is paid; risk rises only with readiness. Already live: the first cohort — 3 India-based interns — is here today, via the Cyber Defenders Internship Program.
$20–25K first checks across 10–12 companies; ~50% reserved for follow-ons into breakouts.
One build a year where we see a gap and no founder. Founder-in-residence + our security architecture. Deal Zero is first.
The talent engine — feeds the studio, the portfolio, and the ecosystem.
No-strings $2–5K to promising tier-2 builders. Fast, paperwork-free, reputation flywheel.
No leases in year one. Anchors, not offices — the brand lives online and materializes four times a year.
Residency hosted at a partner college — free venue, recruiting built in. MIDC factory network = pilot sites for OT-security deals.
Flex seats at a partner coworking space: business address, founder meetings, operator interviews, meetup venue.
Weekly build-in-public posts, monthly virtual office hours for Maharashtra founders, demo-day media as the brand engine.
Residency cohort $25–35K · fellows & grants $10–15K · legal, CPA, travel $20–25K · fractional chief-of-staff $8–10K. Venue free, compute sponsored.
Opex is funded by consulting income + a 2%-style partner contribution — it never eats investment capital.
Three distinct relationships, three distinct asks — all support in kind.
Support ask
Academic departments and professional associations (e.g. dermatology). We bring: Bay Area curriculum, guest faculty, residency stipends, project sponsorship, AI pilots (like DermaLens), a path to US exposure.
We ask: a host venue, a student pipeline, one faculty champion, clinical/domain validation and pilot sites.
Support ask
Industry, neoclouds, and model providers. We bring: trained AI + security engineers, startup deal flow, a Bay Area bridge for your customers and products.
We ask: compute credits, internships, cohort sponsorship — support, not capital.
Support ask
Incubator and operating partners. We bring: deal flow, a hands-on collaborator on the ground, and a Bay Area/India bridge.
We ask: help finding internal candidates, physical space, and introductions/networking with IIT or department incubation programs.
Grouped by relationship — all support asks.
Department: a college ready to host the first Kumbh Residency cohort (Nashik)
Department: a dermatology working session — would the association pilot DermaLens/AI triage?
Partner: 2–3 incubator/operating partner candidates — the India operator seat is priority #1
Partner: incubator introductions — internal candidates, physical space, IIT or department networking
Founders in Pune/Bangalore building AI security or vernacular AI
Sponsor: a neocloud or model partner to sponsor residency compute
Counsel & CPA: cross-border structure, CCPS/iSAFE templates
